Story

Music For All Seasons fosters human interaction and healing through the arts of live musical performance and songwriting.

Music for All Seasons is launching our 2021 "Celebrating 30!" campaign on November 30, which just happens to be Giving Tuesday. We hope you will help us to continue and to expand our programs in New Jersey, New York, Connecticut, Pennsylvania, and California

MFAS facilitates the performance of live musical events in a wide range of institutions - including children's hospitals, retirement facilities, juvenile detention centers, nursing homes, medical centers, halfway houses and prisons, and veteran’s facilities. Through our work, we aid in the physical, mental, and spiritual healing processes.

Through our Voices of Valor program we have written over 60 songs with a diverse array of Veterans (no musical experience required). Starting with an introduction to how songs are written, we build our song in several group songwriting sessions. Our program culminates in a 'bucket list' experience when we go into a professional recording studio and record the Veterans' song in their own voices, followed by a CD Release Party! In the words of our participant A.H.: "This program has changed my life. It has given me back the joy and confidence I thought I had lost. The validation and acceptance has made me feel like I’m part of a large family."

Music for All Seasons engages professional musicians to serve audiences and participants in our programs. By paying a fair wage to our musicians, we also provide meaningful work to the music community, centered around people in spaces that crave, but do not often have the opportunity to see, live music. Our musicians are extremely committed to Music for All Seasons due to the impact they personally witness as they bring joy and musical healing in a non-traditional live music environment.

We are proud to announce that, through the New Jersey State Council on the Arts’ “Arts Education Special Initiative” (AESI) we are funded to provide six cycles of Voices of Empowerment where six groups teens in juvenile detention centers will collaborate with two MFAS musicians/facilitators to write a new song. Modeled after our Voices of Valor program, we have received a $30,000 matching grant and we ask for your generous help to get us started with these programs right away! How serendipitous that our goal of raising $30,000 in our 30th year will be matched dollar for dollar by the New Jersey State Council on the Arts!

In the coming year, with six new sessions of Voices of Empowerment plus two new sessions in homeless shelters added to our rich and varied roster of programs, along with our ongoing Voices of Valor sessions for Veterans, and our MFAS programs in many institutions including children in shelters for victims of domestic violence, senior centers, hospitals and hospices, nursing homes, and more we have a lot of joy and healing to bring to our community. Your donation today will have direct and immediate impact in the coming year!

This year, all donors of $250 and above (including monthly recurring $30 donations) will be entered into a drawing for a program in your name by MFAS musicians in the facility or location of your choice -- which could be your own home!

Sincerely,

Brian and Rena (Founders) and the Music for All Seasons Board of Trustees
