About MS Run the US

Where the Miles Meet the Mission. MS Run the US is a nonprofit organization dedicated to raising awareness, supporting those living with multiple sclerosis, and moving the mission forward—one mile at a time.

Founded by endurance athlete Ashley Schneider, whose mother lived with MS, the organization began with a single, bold idea: run across the United States to make a difference. Since then, hundreds of runners, donors, and supporters have joined the movement to fund care, research, and programs that promote health, connection, and empowerment for the MS community.

Each year, we host the MS Run the US Relay—a 3,260-mile relay run across America—as well as community events and endurance challenges that unite people through sport and purpose.

Jill Kumlien, Ashley’s mother, was diagnosed with MS four years before Ashley was born. Inspired by Jill’s quiet strength through the diseases adversity, Ashley founded MS Run the US, a 501(c)3 charitable organization, to raise national MS awareness, funds to further multiple sclerosis (MS) research, and to help those living with disability due to their symptoms.
