Next year I will be running 138 miles through Nevada in 5 days! (That's 5 marathons in 5 days!) Shortly before my segment I will be turning 40 years old, and also hitting my 10 year anniversary of being diagnosed with MS. If there was ever a more poignant time to do this epic run, it's now.
I wish I could go back in time to tell myself 10 years ago, about the adventure we are about to embark on. I would feel immense relief to know that I am still doing well, but also total confusion because at that time I was NOT a runner in any way, shape, or form! Haha
Every single time I go for a run, I hear that voice inside of me that says, "I have a say in my future, too." I am so thankful to be able to move my body, and I never take a single run for granted.
Next year I will be running for everyone with MS. My mission is three-fold. Firstly, I hope any funds I raise can help those who need that support living with MS - anything from receiving walk aids and wheelchairs, to adaptive driving devices and stairlifts. Secondly, I hope to help STOP MS by providing much needed funds for various research related to this disease. And thirdly, I hope to provide some inspiration. That those of us living with MS can do hard things and pick up new hobbies and live a fulfilling life. Because we can, and we do, and we will!
It would mean the world to me (and countless others) if you would consider donating.
This opportunity will be life changing, but so wasn't my diagnosis. I'm just as terrified as I am excited for this adventure!
