About our teacher:

Venerable Pannavati, Maha Theri is a former Christian pastor, uniquely ordained in both Theravada and Mahayana traditions. She is also a Vajrayana teacher. Particularly inspired by her final lineage master, she offers authorized esoteric lineage teachings, empowerments and activities using skillful means. She is co-founder of Heartwood Refuge, an intentional monastic and lay residential community; Correct Cultivation Learning from Buddha Academy, and Embracing Simplicity Hermitage monastic order. Venerable also serves on Buddhist and inter-spiritual leadership boards, internationally, having retired from decades of active work in humanitarian projects advocating and serving women’s advancement, education for Dalits (India’s Untouchables) and full ordination for female monks.

Step away from the noise of daily life and enter the quiet refuge of nature. In the Heart of the Woods is a daylong silent retreat dedicated to stillness, mindfulness, and the simple beauty of being present. Surrounded by forest and open sky, we will alternate between periods of sitting and walking meditation, supported by guidance, mindful meals, and a Dharma talk offered in the afternoon.

This retreat invites participants to slow down, listen deeply, and reconnect with the natural ease of the heart and mind. The teachings offered throughout the day will draw on timeless Buddhist principles of awareness, compassion, and balance—qualities that support a meaningful and grounded life.

Your registration fee pays for your accommodations and meals as well as the cost of hosting this event. Our along with simple, nourishing meals and shared silence. When planning your budget, consider including a contribution of dana (generosity) for the teacher at the conclusion of the retreat.
