America the Beautiful - Katharine Lee Bates -- During her time in Wellesley, Katharine Lee Bates graduated from Wellesley High School, wrote 'America the Beautiful, worshiped in the Wellesley, taught at Wellesley College and imagined the nation not as conquest -- but as care.

The Star-Spangled Banner - Special Appearance - Soloist Ayla Brown

Our National Anthem will be performed by Ayla Brown, an American Idol TV show finalist who first sang in Wellesley as a teenager at our Annual Town Picnic stage two decades ago. Since then, she has appeared at some of the nation’s most iconic venues and events, including Monday Night Football, the Orange Bowl, presidential debates, the Boston Pops Orchestra, and for all of Boston’s professional sports teams.

Wellesley Wonderful Weekend honors those veterans who served our country and also recognizes those organizations and people who serve our community.

The weekend officially kicks-off on Thursday, May 14 with a special concert at Wellesley Hills Congregational Church at 7:30 p.m. to 9 p.m.

The theme of the special weekend is the 250th Anniversary of the Birth of America.
