Community Mental Health Fund

In light of recent events, it is more important than ever that Rainbow Community Health & Wellness (RCHW) is here to provide health and wellness services - especially behavioral health services - to the LGBTQIA+ community in the Southern Illinois region. Sadly, those who are in need of these services are not always able to access or afford this essential care. We have explored options to make sure that all people in need of our services have access to them, however, our organization is mainly grant-funded, which leaves funding gaps not covered by grants. The Community Mental Health Fund will allow us to accept more counseling clients who are facing financial barriers at reduced-cost or no-cost rates, determined by individual needs.

We need your help.

Your monetary donation to RCHW will remove financial barriers faced by community members who are in need of our behavioral health services (e.g., counseling, youth counseling, family therapy, group therapy, parent training). Individuals may find themselves unable to access mental health care for a variety of reasons- not having health insurance, long waiting lists for counseling, concerns about sharing your gender identity or sexual orientation are at the top of the list.

According to a study by the Trevor Project, 46% of LGBTQ youth respondents report that they wanted psychological or emotional counseling from a mental health professional but were unable to receive it in the past 12 months¹. With your support, we can increase the number of counseling clients we are able to accept and to shorten the wait time for appointments.
