The Apprentice Program provides hands-on learning for young adults, 18-23 years old, from the Greater Capital Area who are not in school and not working. Referred by parents, grandparents, school counselors, social workers, judges, and the young people themselves, the program recruits cohorts of ten (10) Apprentices to begin the six-month program in January and July.

Since 1993, the Apprentice Program uses the craft of woodworking and boatbuilding to deliver an immersive experience that prepares young adults for success in adulthood. Apprentices are paid while in the 6-month program and Seaport ensures they have everything they need to succeed at Seaport and in life.

Until now, there was no way to expand the number of Apprentices we serve without having a larger workshop to accommodate them. Seaport Center II will provide the space for us to double the number of Apprentice that we serve every year. You are making that happen thanks to your support for Seaport Center II. Thank you.

Now, we are ask that you make a capital gift in addition to your annual gift to help us go over our goal. The goal is $1.3 million and so far there are pledges totaling $1.1 million. The Morris and Gwendolyn Cafritz Foundation has established a $100k challenge grant, so that every dollar you give will be matched dollar-for-dollar up to $100,000.
