Each school year the Capital High School Parent Organization (CHSPO) funds specific requests for teacher grants. This past fall we received a request for scientific calculators from 2 math teachers. Many CHS families struggle to purchase school supplies. However, with grant funds these teachers were able to purchase over 90 calculators, which were made available for students to "check out" for the school year.

Another grant CHSPO was able to fulfill was for 27 "current" memoirs and biographies for the library, which students can use to fulfill their outside reading requirements for social studies and other classes. Prior to receiving the grant the average age of the memoirs and biographies was from 1996, which was okay, but when students looked through the books on the library shelves they didn't have access to current, intriguing and culturally representative options.

These are just two examples of grant requests CHSPO received and were able to assist with. However, with the start of the second semester, new classroom needs have surfaced that CHSPO would like to fund through additional grants for our teachers this school year. This is where you can help! Our goal is to raise $5,000 within 2 weeks to fund additional remaining grants. 100% of your donation will go towards Capital High School teacher grant requests.
