Selfish Moms was born out of a simple but powerful truth: when mothers take care of themselves, everyone around them benefits.

Our founder, Marcy Lee, started Selfish Moms after losing her mother and finding herself overwhelmed by the weight of motherhood, grief, and responsibility. Sitting in her yard with a few other moms who felt the same way, she realized what was missing: a safe space for mothers to be seen, supported, and reminded that their wellness matters too.

What began as conversations among friends has grown into a nonprofit that has supported over 500 women. We serve moms from lower-income and under-resourced communities—mothers who often put everyone else first and neglect their own needs. Through workshops, events, and support groups, we teach women to prioritize their mental, emotional, and physical wellness without guilt.

For many moms, Selfish Moms is more than a group—it’s a lifeline. It’s where they learn that self-care is not selfish, but essential. Every donation allows us to continue this mission: to provide access to wellness resources, create healing spaces, and empower moms to thrive in both motherhood and life.
