The funds raised by this event provide the essential support for the commissioning and performance of new works, artist fees, and recordings, honoring the legacy of Dr. Yekovich and his work in Houston.

Robert Yekovich served as the fifth dean of the Shepherd School of Music at Rice University. He stepped down as dean on June 30, 2021, and returned to the faculty as Elma Schneider Professor of Music at the university. At the Shepherd School he appointed a large cadre of nationally and internationally renowned studio faculty and artist teachers, dramatically increased the School’s endowed and annual gift funds, and enhanced the quality of the orchestra, opera and chamber music programs, among numerous other accomplishments. Dean Yekovich is a composer whose works have been performed and broadcast throughout North and South America. Among his honors is a commission from the Fromm Music Foundation at Harvard University.
