The National Alliance of Domestic Violence Survivors (NADVS) is a nationwide nonprofit based in Rhode Island that is led by and for survivors to support each other in navigating the long-term impacts of abuse.

This past October, during Domestic Violence Awareness Month, I worked with some inspiring women to launch a nonprofit called the National Alliance of Domestic Violence Survivors (NADVS).

This is meaningful because it marks exactly ten years after I fled from Kuwait with my two children to reach safety. Starting over, I faced many challenges, but I held onto hope and determination to build a better future for my family. Along the way, I discovered how to transform my pain into power by standing in solidarity and strength with other women who had also survived abuse. The healing I’ve experienced through community has been transformative.

At NADVS, we facilitate Survivor Strength Support Circles—peer-to-peer spaces where survivors come together to heal, share, and empower each other. We make art, write out our feelings, and speak openly and authentically with others who truly understand.

In these circles, we are not just surviving—we are thriving. This is a new wave of healing and empowerment because it is led by those who have lived through it—peer survivors like myself. This cause is deeply personal to me, and I am incredibly passionate about giving back to others who are on the same journey.

Your donation will help us expand our Survivor Strength Support Circles, reaching communities across towns and state lines. Your support will fund the art supplies, journals, space rentals, and workshops for other women to lead support circles in their own communities.
