Recent shifts in federal funding priorities have significantly impacted two of NAI’s core programs: our English for Speakers of Other Languages (ESOL) program and our Citizenship Education program. These services are essential in helping newcomers acclimate to life in the U.S., gain independence, and become fully self-sustaining members of our communities.

Every day, refugees and immigrants come to NAI seeking safety, stability, and opportunity. Through ESOL classes, adults gain the language skills needed to navigate work, school, healthcare, and daily life. Through Citizenship Education, long-term residents prepare to take the next step in their journey: becoming U.S. citizens who can fully participate in and contribute to civic life. When funding for these programs fluctuates, the people we serve feel the impact most directly.
