Each year, the Newport County YMCA hosts the annual Pie Run on Thanksgiving Day. The race, originally founded in 1985 by the Newport Running Club, collects food donations for the MLK Community Center as well as raises necessary funds for the Y's Community Support Campaign. Typically, this annual event draws over 1,500 walkers and runners who gather at the Newport County YMCA parking lot. This year, due to COVID restrictions and guidelines, the Y is GOING VIRTUAL with this beloved annual event.

Register today to participate, anytime from Thanksgiving Day (11/26) through Sunday (11/29), in your own 5 mile run, 3 mile run/walk or distance of your choice. You choose the course!  And, what about that Special Edition Pie Run t-shirt...

For 2020, a flat registration fee of $25 gets you the Special Edition Pie Run t-shirt and access to the Y's running club "NCYMCA Annual Pie Run" on the free Strava App so you can log your run/walk time.  To guarantee your T-shirt is availabe for pick up at the Y on Wednesday, 11/25, you must register by 9am on 11/18.  Social media will play a big part in this year's event as we "gather together virtually" through the sharing of your race day images and words of encouragement. Tag #NCYMCAPieRun to be eligible for fun prizes!

“Every year, we are so grateful to all our Pie Run participants as well as volunteers. This holiday tradition brings our community together while honoring the Y’s core values of health and wellness and social responsibility. The success of the event enables us to help those in our community with life-changing programs and Y scholarships. We are so thrilled that once again, Saccucci Honda will be our Premier Sponsor as we take our 2020 Pie Run 'on the road' virtually!” Mike Miller, CEO at the Newport County YMCA.
