Who we are

Neighborhood Place of Puna is a non-profit organization dedicated to assisting families on Hawaiʻi Island in accessing the necessary tools and resources they need to raise their keiki in a safe, stable, and nurturing home.

Our goal is to provide a non-stigmatizing approach to offer families with underage children various resources and support to address concrete needs, housing instability, skill building, developmentally appropriate parenting, and social isolation. We also aim to provide opportunities for healing, growth, learning, and personal development.

We offer a range of free, strength-based services to support our East Hawaiʻi community. Our programs are designed to uplift Hawaiʻi Island families and individuals, providing them with the resources they need to thrive.

As 2024 draws to a close, we reflect on the tremendous growth our organization has experienced over the past year. With the increasing demand for our services on Hawaiʻi Island, Neighborhood Place of Puna has been able to rise to the occasion—providing critical support to families with minor children, while also fighting to end homelessness in our community. But we couldn’t have done it without your support.

This year, we’ve seen firsthand how the need for our services has grown. Families across Hawaiʻi County are struggling under the weight of financial hardship, housing insecurity, and the rising cost of living. Many are just one crisis away from homelessness. The reality is stark, but with your help, we have the power to make a difference.

Prevent homelessness by offering case management, emergency shelter, and housing solutions to those on the brink of losing their homes.
Provide children with stability by ensuring their families have access to food, clothing, and safe shelter.
