Building Opportunity Through Play

Since 2012, Near West Recreation has proudly served Cleveland’s Near West Side by providing affordable, community-driven sports programs for youth. Through leagues, camps, and clinics, we create safe and welcoming spaces where children can play, grow, and build lasting connections.

From the beginning, we have believed that cost should never prevent a child from participating. Families are able to choose a registration fee that fits their budget, ensuring our programs remain accessible to all.

The Need

Each year, more than 50% of our youth participants request financial assistance. This creates an annual gap of over $30,000 in registration fees. While this support is essential for families, it presents an ongoing challenge to sustaining high-quality programming.

The Champion’s Fund

To meet this need, Near West Recreation established the Champion’s Fund. This fund ensures we can continue offering financial aid without sacrificing program quality, staffing, or safety. The Champion’s Fund helps guarantee that every child—regardless of financial circumstances—has the chance to play.

How You Can Help

All proceeds from our Casino Night Fundraiser on February 7th will go directly to the Champion’s Fund. Your support helps remove barriers, strengthen our programs, and expand access for families across the Near West Side.

Our Mission

Near West Recreation’s mission is to build welcoming, family-friendly neighborhoods by providing accessible sports programs that bring together youth and families from all socioeconomic backgrounds. We create opportunities for connection, develop positive role models, and foster neighborhood pride throughout the Near West Side community.
