Help us send 4 students to Washington DC for the NHD National Competition!

Washington History Day 2026 is in the books, and this year we have another two (2) entries and 4 students going to Nationals!!! This year we had another large team with 52 students & 19 entries including Skyview’s first state qualifier attend with us. Together, we represented well with eight (8) finalists in total!!

Sydney is headed to Nationals 🏆 with her 1st place🥇 finish for her senior individual exhibit "Against the Current: Billy Frank Jr. and the Fish Wars."

Dani, Paulina, and Olivia are headed to Nationals 🏆 with their 2nd place🥈 finish for their senior team performance "Fight or Flight: How Stewardesses Revolted Against Discrimination in Commercial Aviation." They also earned the “Frances Anderson Backus Award,” for their outstanding entry in women's history.

Mia and Caleb took 3rd place 🥉for their senior team exhibit "Where Deceit Drew the Battle Lines: Miscommunication, Mistranslation, and the Puget Sound War." Will took 3rd place 🥉for his senior individual exhibit "House of Cards: The U.S. Subprime Mortgage Crisis." Grace took 4th place 🏅with their senior individual performance "Through Crisis: How the AIDS Epidemic Was Memorialized Through Quilts." Eli, Cooper, Leah, and Zoey took 5th place 🏅with their senior team exhibit "Drawn to Divide: The Impacts of Redlining in Seattle." Joy (Skyview) took 5th place 🏅in her first year ever in NHD with her senior individual performance “"The Chinese Must Go!" Exile from the Emerald City."

An extraordinary shout-out goes to Eli and Cooper for all their incredible years in NHD. They both are graduating this year, and leaving as the most accomplished NHD students in iTech history! They are three (3) time NHD Nationals competitors, finishing as National finalists twice, placing 9th, 15th, and 4th at Nationals, and winning the "Outstanding Washington Entry” back in 2023. It’s been an honor to be your coach these last six (6) years. From the bottom of my heart, thank you.

Emma, Leah, and Jules took home the “Chinese or Chinese-American History Award,” 🏅for their senior team exhibit "Comforting the Uncomfortable: The History of the WWII Comfort Women."

At the middle school level/junior division:

Moses, Courage, Jimmy, Evelyn, and Jasmine took 4th place 🏅with their junior team exhibit "From Railways to Riots: Seattle's Anti Chinese Movement." They also earned the “E Clampus Vitus Outstanding Local History Award.”

All of our other teams also did well & earned great marks for their work. They all had great interviews and helped teach the judges, and others, about their topics. Watching these young people come back from their presentations grinning from ear to ear and being proud of their work is everything!!! Congratulations #Ravens on another great showing, and National History Day here we come!!!
