Our Friends at Bethel Friends of Canine have had over 130 dogs pass through their rescue since Halong. Yesterday they reached out to ask for 5 insulated dog houses and straw to use at the rescue as temporary housing for dogs coming in from the evacuated areas of southwest Alaska. They are just running out of space and some of these dogs can be outside while they wait for the next step, if they have proper shelter.

We have already done a fundraiser for those in need of housing as a result of the flooding and evacuations. Although our fundraiser was very successful, our list of dogs in need of houses exceeds the funds we have raised. So we are doing a fundraiser specifically for the 5 houses needed at Bethel Friends of Canines rescue.

Our houses are double walled and insulated we pay a builder to build them. They are NOT donated, they are not one of those houses that is made from a single sheet of plywood, they are sturdy, they weigh 170 lbs and we send a bale of straw with each house. The cost for one house, including straw and delivery to the Anchorage airport is $400.00. BFK9 needs 5 of them asap.

I have contacted our friends at Everts Air and they are willing to ship the 5 dog houses free of charge as part of the rescue efforts taking place in western Alaska.

We know BFK9 has their own fundraisers and support, and many of you may have already donated to them specifically, but we would never ask another rescue to pay for our houses. Please help us help BFK9 continue their work of placing dogs left behind in the evacuated villages with their families, fosters, or other rescues. They have run out of space at their facility and these 5 houses will give them 5 more spots for the dogs who are cycling through their rescue.
