Nomi Needs You!

Update 2/20/2026:

We are heartbroken to share that Nomi has not been making the improvements we were hoping for. After consulting with specialists, it has been determined that she likely has a ruptured uterus and septic peritonitis. She is being rushed into emergency surgery right now.

This is critical. The infection is life-threatening, and while the doctors are doing everything they can, we know she may not make it. But Nomi is fighting with everything she has — and we are fighting right alongside her.

Two days ago, sweet Nomi gave birth. What should have been a joyful, hopeful time has quickly turned into a heartbreaking emergency.

Her foster noticed something was very wrong — Nomi was rejecting her puppies, refusing to eat for two days, urine-stained, extremely weak, and unable to care for herself. She rapidly declined and was rushed in for emergency care.

Bloodwork revealed her calcium and electrolyte levels are dangerously low, putting her at severe risk for eclampsia — a life-threatening condition that can happen to mama dogs after giving birth.

Right now, Nomi is hospitalized in critical condition. She is laterally recumbent, emaciated, and incredibly fragile. She is on IV fluids and receiving multiple injectable medications as the veterinary team works urgently to stabilize her. We are anxiously waiting for updates and praying her body responds to treatment.

Her puppies need their mama. And Nomi deserves the chance to recover and feel safe again.

Emergency hospitalization, bloodwork, round-the-clock monitoring, and medications have already brought her estimated medical expenses to $5,000 — and care is ongoing. As a rescue, this is a devastating and unexpected cost, and we cannot do this alone.
