Northern California Rb Family Day!

The Espinosa family have been attending Southern California Family Day since its inception in 2018, with their Rb survivor, Angel.

LOCATION: San Francisco’s LightHouse for the Blind and Visually Impaired, located at 1155 Market Street, 10th Floor, San Francisco, California 94103

EVENT DESCRIPTION:

Retinoblastoma patients, survivors, families, friends and medical professionals are encouraged to join WE C Hope for an afternoon of friendship, community and fun in the San Francisco Bay Area.

Whether your family just recently began their Rb journey or you have been a survivor for years, this is a wonderful and relaxed opportunity to connect with others who have walked a similar path. Friends, family members and caretakers are welcome because we know Rb is a journey that impacts not only the child, but the entire family.

Lunch will be provided, along with plenty of activities for the kiddos.

Attendees from all geographic areas are welcome, not just Northern California.

Additionally, there will likely be guide dogs and/or service dogs at the event or in the LightHouse building.

REGISTRATION CLOSES FRIDAY, APRIL 25.

When registering, select one ticket for your entire group (up to 6 adults and 6 children). You will then be asked to list the number of adults, children, and their names on the next page. If you have additional guests, you will need to make a second reservation.

PARKING, BART, AND RIDESHARE DROP-OFF INFORMATION:

Please note that the LightHouse is located across from the Civic Center BART station. When emerging from Civic Center Station, take the B3 exit for the 1100 block of Market Street (middle of the station) and you will find the LightHouse about fifteen steps in front of the station staircase. If you would prefer to use an escalator, go to the U.N. Plaza exit. When you come out, you’ll need to cross Market Street. Those using an elevator from Civic Center Station should take the elevator which has an attendant employed by BART on the north side of Market between 7th and 8th and then use the pedestrian-activated mid-block crossing behind the elevator which ends directly in front of our building.

The best drop-off location for Uber, Lyft, Paratransit and other vehicles is the back door at 1155 Odd Fellows Way, formerly known as Stevenson. Once in the alley off of 7^th Street, the LightHouse building is the last building on the right marked with an illuminated LightHouse sign. A pair of doors can be found just below that sign. For blind visitors, you can tell you are at the right door when you find the keypad to the right of the door. Press #000 to call the security desk, wait for the buzzer and enter the building.

A secondary option for pickup and dropoff is at our front doors at 1155 Market Street.

Please note: Uber and Lyft drop-off is restricted on Market between 3rd and 8th Streets.

It is strongly recommended to use public transportation or drop-off services, but there are options for paid parking near LightHouse at the following locations:

SOMA Grand at 1160 Mission Street
California Parking at 1266 Market
1455 Market Street Garage
Gotta Park at 1355 Market Street
Civic Center Garage at 355 McAllister Street
