Join the Sidney Dance Company for the season's most anticipated holiday production, The Nutcracker! Featuring local members of Sidney's very own pre-professional dance company, this holiday classic will delight and entertain audiences of all ages.

After an extravagant Christmas party hosted by her parents, young Clara is too excited to sleep and stays up late into the night to play with her brand new and most favorite Christmas present, a wooden Nutcracker gifted to her by her eccentric and mysterious Uncle Drosselmeyer. As Clara drifts off with her precious toy in hand, strange and exciting events begin to unfurl. Life-size mice and their fearless leader, the Rat Queen, descend upon Clara's living room, only to be intercepted by a group of Toy Soldiers, led by Clara's very own Nutcracker Prince, come to life! After an intense battle, the Rat Queen wounds the Nutcracker, but Clara herself jumps in to defend and save him from certain demise. While she weeps at his seeming defeat, he magically transforms into a real Prince, come to whisk her away on a fantastical journey, through an enchanted, snow-covered forest, filled with dancing Snowflakes and the elegant Snow Queen and King.

Clara and the Prince arrive in the Land of Sweets, inhabited by various characters representing treats and delicacies from around the world. As Clara is introduced to each one, they express their gratitude for saving their Prince from the Rat Queen. Sugar Plum Fairy, the reigning leader of the Land in the Prince's absence, dances with her Cavalier partner, as she welcomes the Prince home. The delicacies entertain Clara by performing dances from their respective lands. Clara enjoys Chocolate from Spain, Coffee from Arabia, Candy Canes from Russia, Tea from China, Marzipan from France, Dew Drop and her Flower delicacies, Mother Ginger and her children, and welcoming Angels. Clara even dances with some of them as they show her around their fantasy Land. They all dance together in celebration before sending Clara back to her own world, cradling her Nutcracker toy, while visions of Sugar Plum and the rest of the magical characters dance in her head.
