Story

In collaboration with EZ Sports Talk, Above Par Network, Flights Wine & Taproom, we are excited to announce the first ever Jail N Bail Event to raise funds for Oakwood Creative Care.  Join us as we raise funds to support families in their fight against cognitive and physical diagnosis.  You can join us in person or virtually to spark joy in the lives of families in a fight to keep their loved ones present, with dignity.

Covid-19 has been more than challenging for all of us, but especially tough on families dealing with diagnosis of a Dementia, Parkinson’s, and other age-related impairments. Our community needs our help now more than ever to keep these vulnerable seniors engaged, with nutritional, physical, and medical support for them to have the best quality of life possible and reduce caregiver burnout.

As Dementia experts we are acutely aware of the national crisis we are facing. Alzheimer's disease has staggering implications and Arizona is leading in the number of people living with Alzheimer’s. Today 5.8 million Americans are living with Alzheimer's disease. The aging of the baby boomers has been termed the “Silver tsunami” as a person is diagnosed with Alzheimer’s every 65 seconds. By 2050 it is estimated there will be 14 million cases. The costs of care; monetarily, physically, and emotionally is extraordinary. These facts move the issues of Alzheimer’s out of the immediate family circle and into the broader community. Providing a safe place for Caregivers to bring their loved one and helping those diagnosed find purpose, community and joy in their days is our work at Oakwood Creative Care.

Funds raised from this event will directly benefit Oakwood Creative Care’s Members and Families giving access to low income individuals to attend OCC’s Day Club Programs.

Every $54 raised offers a day at an OCC Club: it includes compressive nursing care, nutrition, engagement, and a place to experience purpose and meaning.
