Every Tuesday Is Giving Tuesday

Turn a one-time gift into a lasting impact.

Help Open Door Exchange furnish fresh starts across Long Island.

Every family deserves the comfort, stability, and dignity of a furnished home. As Long Island’s first and only public furniture bank, Open Door Exchange connects individuals and families in need with the essential furnishings that turn an empty house into a place to call home.

This November, we’re turning every Tuesday into an opportunity to give and we invite you to make your generosity go even further.

A one-time donation makes a difference today. A monthly donation makes a difference all year long. By turning your one-time gift into a recurring monthly contribution, you provide reliable, ongoing support that helps us plan ahead, respond to more requests for assistance, and ensure that more Long Island families have the essentials they need to begin again.

Whether it's $10, $25, $50, or whatever feels meaningful to you, your monthly gift adds up to something extraordinary. Just $10 a month becomes $120 a year in support of families rebuilding their lives.

This Giving Tuesday season, consider making your generosity a habit, not just a moment.

Give once. Make an impact every month. Help furnish more fresh starts.

Together, we can make every Tuesday and every day a little brighter for our neighbors in need.

About Open Door Exchange

Open Door Exchange (ODE) is Long Island’s first and only public furniture bank, founded in 2015 with a mission to furnish homes, and futures, for neighbors in need. Based in Port Jefferson Station, ODE collects gently used furniture and redistributes it free of charge to individuals and families transitioning into stable housing. We serve veterans, single parents, survivors of domestic violence, children aging out of foster care, and others facing hardship, with the goal of turning empty apartments into welcoming, functional homes.

How We Began:

The idea for ODE was born in the heart of the Setauket Presbyterian Church. In 2015, then-Pastor Kate Jones Calone led the church’s youth group on a service trip to A Wider Circle, a furniture bank in Maryland. Witnessing the direct impact of providing basic household furnishings to those in need, and the environmental benefit of keeping furniture out of landfills, Kate returned home with a vision. Upon researching, she discovered that Long Island lacked a furniture bank, despite high demand. ODE began humbly, collecting donations in a shipping container, gradually growing with the help of volunteers and community members into a fully operational warehouse facility.
