I never thought I’d have to write this.

After 25 years of providing healing through horses, rabbits, goats and compassionate connection, Animals as Natural Therapy is on the brink of closing its barnyard doors—and we need your help now more than ever.

We are a truly grassroots organization, rooted in Whatcom County, built by community, and sustained by the generosity of individuals like you. In fact, over 40% of our funding comes from individual donors.

Each year, we serve more than 5,000 people right here in Whatcom County—including youth in 12 public schools, isolated elders in assisted living, veterans battling PTSD, and hospice patients nearing the end of life.

And we do all of this on a shoestring: a $500,000 annual budget that must cover everything—staff salaries, transportation, therapy animal care, feed, facility maintenance, insurance, and more.

But this year, it's not enough.

Costs have soared. Grants have shrunk. Donors are stretched. And despite the growing need, we simply do not have the funds to continue.

If we don’t raise critical support now, we will be forced to shut down.

That means no more visits to children who trust our horses more than any adult.

No more quiet comfort for hospice patients who find peace in a therapy rabbit’s presence.

No more healing space for people whose trauma has left them feeling broken, unseen, or alone.
