This year, I’m once again taking a leap—literally—by rappelling down The Ross, the tallest building in downtown Salisbury. I’m doing it to champion the work of Santé and the United Way of the Lower Eastern Shore (UWLES), and to raise critical awareness and support for ALICE families in our community.
ALICE—Asset Limited, Income Constrained, employed—represents the hardworking Marylanders who earn above the Federal Poverty Level but still cannot afford a basic “survival budget.” They’re our neighbors, coworkers, family members, and friends. We all know ALICE®, and together we can help ensure they don’t face these challenges alone.
As the Education and Outreach Coordinator for Santé Eastern Shore, it means so much to me to stand up for this cause. At Santé, we walk beside individuals, adolescents, and families experiencing mental health crises throughout the Eastern Shore. Our crisis intervention team is here 24/7 for adults, children, and entire communities—because no one should face their darkest moments alone.
Through strong partnerships across the region, we deliver comprehensive, person-centered care that prioritizes each individual’s wellbeing far beyond the immediate crisis. Our licensed counselors, therapists, clinicians, and peer support staff are committed to ensuring that help, hope, and healing are always within reach. If you or someone you love needs support, we’re here: 888-407-8018.
I also deeply believe in the mission of the United Way of the Lower Eastern Shore. Their dedication to strengthening health, education, and financial stability—especially for ALICE households—creates lasting change through collaboration and compassion. I am proud to support both UWLES and the ALICE initiative.
Over the Edge for ALICE is more than a thrilling event—it’s a powerful opportunity to spotlight the life-changing work happening at Santé while uplifting the many local families who are working hard yet still struggling to make ends meet. Today, more than 2 in 5 households in our region face this reality—but together, we can help change the story.
By donating to this effort, you’re making a direct and meaningful impact on the lives of hardworking families right here in our community.
Help me reach my goal—and help make a difference—by giving today. Thank you for standing with us.
