At OWLS, we Engage, Enrich, and Inspire Chicago kids and communities through the Power of Lacrosse 🥍

Together with our donors, community partners, schools, coaches, tutors, and, of course, our student-athletes, Outreach With Lacrosse and Schools (OWLS) is bridging the opportunity gap for Chicago’s most historically marginalized communities. We do this through mentorship, academic support, enrichment experiences, and one of the greatest games on the planet.

OWLS Impact during the 2023-2024 School Year 🍎

OWLS served 273 student-athletes hailing from 15 different zip codes on Chicago’s West and South Sides.
3,194 program hours provided while maintaining an intimate 1:4 staff-to-student ratio.
We increased outreach and participation at 5 partner schools, and the scope of our academic enrichment programming continues to widen with the launch of new “Junior Academy” programs at 2 school sites.
Safe bus transportation and healthy snacks during out-of-school time programming and interscholastic play were provided to participants at no cost to families.

Thanks to generous contributions from individual donors, corporate and community partners, aspiring OWLS Scholars are building critical life skills, adopting healthy habits, and setting goals – in addition to benefiting from competitive lacrosse experiences and ongoing academic support. OWLS Academy participants have the opportunity to explore future pathways through immersive college visits, cultural experiences, camps, and career exploration programs.

• 42 Academy Students, a 120% increase from the previous school year
• 127+ hours of Academic Support & Mentorship
• 6 College Exploration Programs totaling 210+ hours
• 93% of students maintained/advanced knowledge in critical college application areas
