Okaeri Productions is thrilled to share that we’re creating our first original piece — Medea, a new dance narrative.

In this piece, we’ll explore love, ambition, motherhood, and betrayal through movement and music. Our dancers — the majority of whom identify as femme and/or Queer — will embody Medea’s many identities: lover, healer, foreigner in a strange land, mother, and witch. Blending contemporary, jazz, hip-hop, ballet, and pole dance, we want to investigate what it means to love fiercely, to lose deeply, and to own your own story.

Through this campaign, we aim to raise $1,500 to create three professional video work samples that capture the heart of the piece. These videos will be essential tools as we apply for grants to bring Medea to the stage.

Your support helps us pay our director/choreographer, Leon Glover, and our dancers fairly, rent studio space, and continue building creative practices rooted in care, equity, and imagination.
