PROJECT OVERVIEW

🎶 Our initial venue - a purpose-built, semi-permanent, flexible structure in central Jerusalem - will enable full-scale productions while setting the stage for a permanent home. This agile approach ensures rapid execution while delivering six new productions annually, spanning classics, contemporary works, and commissioned pieces.

🎶 Opera Shalem is committed to becoming the world’s first net-zero opera house, utilizing energy-efficient systems inspired by the passive house model. This also includes a fully digital approach to theater: digital music libraries, musicians playing from iPads, and an app replacing printed programs. We aim to set a new global standard for sustainability in the performing arts.

🎶 Rooted in the diverse heritage of Jerusalem, Opera Shalem is dedicated to fostering intercultural dialogue and peace. Through our performances and outreach, we will bridge divides and unite audiences across cultures.

🎶 Our ensemble-based system nurtures deep artistic relationships and collaborative excellence, with performers and technical staff working together season after season to perfect their craft. This stable, close-knit team allows us to achieve a level of artistic precision and mutual understanding that visiting artists simply cannot match, while creating an environment where innovation emerges naturally from trust and shared experience.

BUDGET OVERVIEW

🎶 With an annual budget of $5.4 million, Opera Shalem will evolve into a financially sustainable operation through a diverse mix of ticket sales, and merchandising, sustainable investments and innovations, as well as critical sponsorships, key partnerships, institutional grants and the development of a new and returning audience seeking a transformational cultural experience at any age or from any background. Our goal is to raise 50% of our annual budget through fund-raising initiatives in partnership with our fiscal sponsor, The PFAP Foundation, and to progressively decrease this percentage over the course of Opera Shalem's first five years in operation by pursuing a range of for-profit and non-profit opportunities, allowing the operation to reach full sustainability in its first decade.
