About Lexi Ruiz
Hi, I’m Lexi Ruiz — a 9-year-old with a big heart and a heavy ruck.
I started training with my dad when I was just 7 years old, watching him prepare for something called the 50 Mile March— a powerful endurance ruck to raise awareness and support for veterans facing homelessness, PTSD, and the daily battles of life after service.
From the moment I saw what it was about, I wanted in.
That year, I asked to ruck.
Mom said no.
Dad hadn’t even finished his first 50 yet, and she wasn’t exactly thrilled about either of us doing it. But I kept rucking, kept training, and kept asking.
Last year, I officially joined Dad and completed my first 50 Mile March.
This year will be my second — and his third.
Why I Ruck
One of the biggest reasons we ruck is my abuelo — my dad’s dad — who proudly served in the U.S. Army. His service and sacrifice are part of our family’s story, and we carry him with us on every step of the journey.
We ruck to honor him.
We ruck for the heroes like him.
And we ruck so today’s veterans know they are not forgotten.
(Photos of me, my dad, and my abuelo will be on this page too — because he’s part of our “why.”)
