Second Chance Humane Society’s fundraiser is to expand our Community Medical Services program.

We have secured a matching grant, and now we need to raise $20,000 from our supporters. Read on for more information about our services and our goals for this fundraiser.

What We Do

The goal for Second Chance’s Community Medical Services is to keep pets and people together, living healthier and happier lives. The cost of veterinary care can often be a barrier for low-income families who need their pets as part of their lives as much as anyone. Last year Second Chance served 761 pets and 342 families and the demand is only growing. Meeting this need is why this funding campaign is so important.

Current program services include: spay/neuter, dental, vaccinations, end of life care, bloodwork and diagnostics, and microchipping.

Generous Donations and Matching Funds

The project will allow us to separate the exam and surgical areas while creating a safer and more efficient workflow for staff and public. We also are creating dedicated space for our newly-donated x-ray and ultrasound equipment (Thanks to Dr. Allison Branson who recently closed Telluride Veterinary Clinic). Dr. Branson also gave us exam tables and other equipment that will help us help more pets.

Our matching funds come from one our treasured volunteers. After seeing the space and workflow challenges of the clinic, the volunteer offered the matching fund challenge. These funds will significantly increase the capacity of the program through minor facility remodeling and increased operational funds.

Currently this vital program is significantly limited by space and access, presenting safety and efficiency challenges while also restricting capacity and ability to serve people and pets. Your donation will allow us to complete this renovation project and address these issues.

Second Chance Humane Society’s Animal Resource Center and Thrift Shops have been servicing San Miguel, Ouray & Montrose Counties for 28 years. In addition to pet rescue, rehabilitation and adoption services, Second Chance offers a range of community outreach programming throughout our area.
