Danielle Howard, her husband and two children reside in Hudson. They also have two children who are adults and live on their own. Since 2022 Danielle has experienced numerous health challenges and diagnoses that have resulted in multiple hospitalizations and absences from work. Danielle is currently a Senior Counselor with the Mental Health Association of Columbia and Greene Counties where she has been employed for eight years. Her husband is an eighteen-year employee of Brookwood Center for NYS. As you can see, they both serve the community in which they live.

Danielle has always been forthcoming about her illnesses and has a strong faith. These diagnoses include Parkinson’s, (which she has been cleared of), Lupus, POTS (Postural Orthostatic Tachycardia Syndrome and Stage 4 Gastroparesis. Due to her gastroparesis she needs to be fed via TPN which is a central line via a port. Danielle is currently inpatient and is awaiting discharge at this time.

Although her doctors are recommending long-term disability, at this time Danielle would like to return to work in the career that she loves and is looking for assistance to get this interim period while she is awaiting the ability to return to work so their household expenses can be met. The determination for long term disability is something they cannot wait for at this time.

As with all donations made to Our Community Cares for individuals, 100 percent is given to the person we are assisting and any fees are covered by OCC, (if not covered by the donor). We are a 501c and donations are fully also tax deductible.

Our Community Cares, Inc. was formed by a local group of concerned citizens who have stepped up to help those in need in the past. These have ranged from residents losing their homes to fire, illnesses, tragic accidents and financial hardships. The desire was to create a central organization that responded quickly and effectively to residents in need.

Our community has always come together and collectively responded when the need arose. Our Community Cares, Inc. wishes to continue this response but in a more structured and organized environment to provide a more measured and appropriate response when the need arises.
