Public Assembly is a 501(c)3 non-profit theater company dedicated to reinventing community theater in Los Angeles.

Every month we develop a show of three brand new short plays centered around an audience-proposed theme. Tickets are free or pay-what-you-want, there's an open bar, and the show runs for one night only to sold out crowds of 200+ people.

But our shows are only the beginning. At the heart of Public Assembly is a free, professionally-staffed playwriting development program accessible to anyone who has sat in our audience. Over the past year, we have deepened partnerships with local institutions, expanded access through subsidized rehearsal space and production support, and—most meaningfully—we’ve begun compensating our artists for their time and talent.
