When The Pet Adoption Center of Orange County opened we established a contract with the City of Lake Forest. Our most recent contract was $19,000 per year. It restricted our ability to help the OC community as a whole. Over the past few years, it became apparent that we were spending way too much effort dealing with restrictions, rather than being free to help everyone.

In March 2026, Lake Forest had the opportunity to make a change to an inclusive, community-focused animal shelter, that would have allowed us to expand our programs. When the City chose not to move, the PAC-OC knew that we had to end our contract in order to achieve what we set out to do. We appreciate the years of support and thank the City of Lake Forest for working with us.

A generous donor has agreed to match the first $19,000 we raise (for a total of $38,000!) to help us move forward now that we are completely independent and rely exclusively on you—our community—for our funding.

We need your financial support to continue. Besides our rescue and rehabilitation services, we have collaborations with RSM Cares to provide pet food to families in need, Furever Family to support the community with low-cost spay/neuter services, and BeyondGREEN for cobranded renewable dog waste bags. We also partner with Mission Viejo Animal Services on community events, with more initiatives ahead—with your help!

Through rescue, rehabilitation, community outreach, and partnerships, we are creating a stronger, more compassionate community where people and pets can thrive together.
