Building a Safe Haven: A Revolutionary Community Wellness Clinic for Youth in Wards 7 & 8

In too many communities, young people are caught in cycles of violence, trauma, and social isolation with nowhere to turn. The stakes are incredibly high in Washington, D.C.’s Ward 7 and Ward 8. Youth and young adults face daily threats from street violence, unsafe home environments, and a lack of positive support systems. But we believe there’s a better way forward.

That’s why our nonprofit is launching a first-of-its-kind Community Wellness Clinic: Potomac Avenue Wellness Services (P.A.W.S.), a safe space designed to break the cycle of violence and trauma by providing free, no-cost therapy, mentorship, and life-changing support.

A Safe Space to Heal and Grow

P.A.W.S. is more than just a drop-in center—it’s a sanctuary. Our clinic will serve as a violence intervention hub, welcoming youth and young adults who are looking for an escape from the streets and a place to build a brighter future. Through innovative, evidence-based therapy and an empowering education curriculum, we will help young people make positive long-term decisions for themselves, their families, and their communities.

Therapy at No Cost: Mental health support shouldn’t be a privilege. Our clinic will provide free, trauma-informed therapy to help youth process pain, anxiety, and fear in a supportive environment.
Innovative Education Curriculum: More than just therapy, we will offer a unique learning experience that engages, empowers, and motivates young adults to choose a different path—one of stability, purpose, and success.
Nontraditional Hours for Maximum Impact: The most dangerous hours for youth and young adults are evenings and weekends when violence and crime rates spike. Our drop-in center will operate during these critical hours, offering a refuge when needed from stressful environments.
