UPDATE 11/13/25: Last night, Cycling in Solidarity met its initial $7500 goal. Thank you to everyone who has shared, donated, and followed along over the last 10+ months. As Cycling in Solidarity is a yearlong fundraiser, I will continue to cycle and actively fundraise through the end of 2025. To reflect this, I’ve extended the campaign to a $9000 “reach goal” that, if reached, will distribute ~3000 to each of the three change-making organizations. Cycling in Solidarity is a by/for yearlong fundraising effort to raise 7500 USD across three different change-making organizations collectively serving diverse needs of the disabled community. For every $50 raised, disabled organizer Sonya Rio-Glick commits to cycling one mile. Together, we can raise $2500 for each org in 2025. Inspired by the book The Future Is Disabled to look inward to find ways to support her community, Sonya is using her love of cycling to resource those doing the work to realize a better world for disabled people. Simultaneously, this will keep her accountable to improving on her trike. Sonya has found using a recumbent trike liberating as an ambulatory wheelchair user. The selected change-making organizations were selected based on the following criteria:

Trusted: Sonya has worked directly with all the selected organization, and has seen their impact in action.
Disability-Led: All are led by disabled people. Nothing about us without us.
Diverse populations served: Each org serves a different facet of the disability community.
Disability Justice aligned mission: each organization’s work reflects the 10 principles of Disability Justice.
Innovative: Each org meets specific needs of underserved groups within disability community.
