We are continuing to show our support for the Roswell Air Races by bringing three vintage warbirds to participate at the races this year! The event takes place September 16 through 20, 2026 in Roswell, New Mexico.

The Palm Springs Air Museum is bringing three extraordinary warbirds to the 2026 Roswell Air Races to showcase aviation heritage before a national audience. From our two iconic P-51 Mustangs to one of the world's only flying P-63 Kingcobra, these aircraft are living pieces of American history—and keeping them flying requires a dedicated team both on the ground and in the air.

For many attendees, this will be their only opportunity to see these rare aircraft not only fly, but compete and demonstrate the capabilities that made them legends.

We invite you to become part of this mission!

Your contribution will directly support the transportation, maintenance, fuel, lodging, and operational expenses necessary to transport, operate, and showcase these historic aircraft at the Roswell Air Races. While the Palm Springs Air Museum, a nonprofit organization (Tax ID 33-0615350), is underwriting this effort, community support is essential to making this mission successful.

Our fundraising goal is $10,000. While the actual cost of transporting, maintaining, and operating three vintage warbirds for a week-long event far exceeds that amount, this goal will help offset a meaningful portion of the expenses required to bring these remarkable aircraft to Roswell. Every contribution helps bridge the gap and ensures these historic aircraft can continue inspiring audiences across the country.

Much of the staffing effort is being performed by dedicated volunteers who have embraced this project with incredible enthusiasm, but enthusiasm alone cannot purchase aviation fuel, spare parts, tires, transportation, lodging, meals, and the countless resources required to support this undertaking hundreds of miles from home. A contribution to this campaign is more than a donation to an event—it is an investment in preserving living aviation history. Every dollar helps ensure that these aircraft remain active ambassadors of the Greatest Generation and the men and women whose service, sacrifice, and innovation helped shape our nation and the world.

Most importantly, your support helps fulfill the Museum's mission of honoring those who served, preserving aviation history, and educating future generations. P-51 Mustang "Bunny"

P-51 Mustang Survivors - MustangsMustangs.com "Bunny" is painted in the colors of the Tuskegee Airmen and honors the wartime aircraft flown by Lt. Col. Bob Friend during his remarkable 140 combat missions in World War II.

P-51 Mustang "Man O' War"

P-51 Mustang – Palm Springs Air Museum "Man O' War" carries the markings of aircraft 414292/QP-A from the 334th Fighter Squadron, 4th Fighter Group. It represents the personal aircraft of Lt. Col. Claiborne H. Kinnard, a distinguished combat commander credited with destroying 25 enemy aircraft.

P-63 Kingcobra "Pretty Polly"

P-63 Kingcobra Warbird Wednesday Episode 37 – Palm Springs Air Museum Joining our two Mustangs will be our rare P-63 Kingcobra "Pretty Polly"—one of only two flying examples in the world today. The Kingcobra's presence alone makes the Palm Springs Air Museum contingent one of the most unique attractions at the Roswell Air Races.

Named by CNN Travel as one of the world's premier aviation museums, the Palm Springs Air Museum is home to more than 70 flyable and static aircraft displayed throughout five climate-controlled hangars totaling more than 91,000 square feet.

The collection includes legendary aircraft such as the B-17 Flying Fortress, P-51 Mustang, F-14 Tomcat, F/A-18 Hornet, F-117 Nighthawk, and many more.
