In early 2025, my exhibition proposal for Pulp Stiction: Collage as an Act of Resistance was approved by the wonderful team at Urban Arts Space in Columbus, Ohio. It’s a five-week exhibition at Hopkins Hall Gallery packed with workshops, community events, a keynote, panels—the whole shebang. I’ve worked so hard to make this real. The plan was to fund it through a major project grant that was supposed to open today.

Instead, I woke up to an announcement that the grant cycle has been shut down for the rest of the year, with the organization citing “significant operational expense reductions.” I hold no grudges—I know this isn’t what they wanted either.

Even if grants reopen next year, I wouldn’t know if I was funded until just weeks before the show.

But here’s the thing: I’m doing it anyway.

This fundraiser is my way of asking for help instead of bankrupting myself out of spite (lol?). I’m trying to raise $15,000—$13,000 of which will go directly to the artists, speakers, and community collaborators involved. At its core, this show is about art as resistance, and paying artists fairly is part of that mission.
