Drew Haire, owner of RUD Fleet, a High Point-based transportation company who recently relocated to Downtown High Point, aims to break the Guinness World Record for the most push-ups in 8 hours. The current record was set in 2021 at 14,444 in Australia.

Haire uses April 7 each year to push himself to achieve ambitious goals with his last achievement on April 7, 2021 where he ran 100 miles in less than 24 hours. On April 7, 2022, the event will be held in inside his downtown business, RUD Fleet, where spectators are invited to attend the record-breaking attempt which will also be streamed live.

As an advocate for the development of the downtown community, Haire wants this event to push High Point “up.”

“In less than a month of being in our new headquarters, our team already feels energized by the downtown setting,” Haire said. “My goal is for this record-breaking attempt to bring more excitement to downtown and raise additional funds for our city to continue its redevelopment process.”

Spectators may sponsor various sets of push-ups, purchase custom gym towels, and take photo-ops with all donations directly benefiting Forward High Point, a non-profit whose purpose and focus is redeveloping downtown beyond the Furniture Market.

“This attempt to break a world record will bring an additional spotlight on our city,” said Forward High Point representative, Melissa Bocci. “This is also part of our long-term goal to have various events going on in downtown High Point that will bring our community together,” said Bocci.

The event will begin promptly at 9:00 a.m. and will run for 8 consecutive hours, ending at 5:00 p.m. Event photos may be taken throughout duration of the attempt with fundraising photo-ops with Drew Haire taking place between 12:00 p.m. and 1:00 p.m.
