What is Flowergiver?

Flowergiver is a community-driven feature film set in San Antonio’s Westside. Through themes of first love, addiction, and family trauma, Flowergiver highlights the power of art and indigenous spirituality.

Why It Matters

As a city, San Antonio is both vibrant and gritty. While rich in natural beauty, there exists a fundamental lack of resources on the Westside (largely Chicano and low income). The Alazán-Apache courts, a real-life housing project where the characters of Flowergiver reside, sits in an area previously considered one of the worst slums in the United States. Like many westsiders, Noah and Paola are mestizo (indigenous and European), carrying in their blood a history that shapes Flowergiver’s themes and Texas backdrop. This is a resilient community that serves as the backbone of the westside. The residents of the Alazán continue on.

Centering San Antonio and Chicano stories with authenticity and heart

Where the Money Goes

We’re raising $85,000 to kick off production and grassroots outreach. This will help hire crew, community murals, and prepare our cultural tour. It’s the first step in our $350K journey and it starts here.
