This #GivingTuesday, funds donated to Pawsibilities Vet Med will be used to open the Pawsibilities platform to individuals 13 years and older!

Dr. Valerie Marcano co-founded Pawsibilities Vet Med with a dream - to increase access and knowledge about veterinary medicine far and wide. During her journey, Dr. Marcano was exposed to a multitude of careers in veterinary medicine, first by her mother, a veterinarian, and then through mentors. However, not everyone is lucky enough to find mentors like this. Drs. Marcano and Andrews created Pawsibilities Vet Med to give everyone a chance to consider whether this profession is for them. We have seen an amazing response so far, with hundreds of people joining to mentor and be mentored. Many of us decided to join veterinary medicine at an early age, for this to happen individuals must be exposed equitably to the pawsibilities early in life, see themselves represented, and have the resources to go through the educational journey.

Pawsibilities Vet Med is a 501(c)(3) nonprofit organization that proactively increases all forms of diversity within the veterinary profession through mentorship, professional development and resources. We accomplish this primarily though our virtual mentoring and networking platform. There, members can find and interact with peers and potential mentors, attend career and professional development events and access our library of resources. Currently, we support individuals 18 years and older to all intersecting identities, including but not limited to ability, ethnicity, gender identity, non-traditional paths, race, sexual orientation, socioeconomic background, religion, and veteran status.
