On July 9, 2024, Rosemie Malumpil’s life changed forever. In Brgy. Molimoc, Balabagan, Lanao del Sur, Philippines devastating flash floods tore through her community, claiming lives, homes, and livelihoods. Rosemie, a mother of four, had just given birth two weeks before the tragedy.

"I thought it was just another flood," Rosemie recounts, "but it grew faster than I imagined. I thought our house would keep us safe. I was wrong."

Her husband managed to save their newborn, but the floodwaters struck before he could return for Rosemie and their three other children. Rosemie and her eldest daughter, Norbaila, were later found unconscious in a neighboring barangay, saved by rescuers. Tragically, two of her children, Abdulmajid and Shaila, remain missing.

Now, Rosemie is determined to rebuild her life. With the help of the MARADECA Early Recovery Livelihood Support Program, she has the chance to start over. For every $110, a family like Rosemie’s with seeds, tools, training, and ongoing support to restart farming and regain stability.
