A message from The Moultonborough Quilters about their marvelous fundraising support of Common Man for Ukraine:

"Like so many Americans, our hearts ache at the horrors of war, especially as it is experienced by children. When Putin attacked Ukraine, we wanted to do something to comfort mothers and children whose husbands/fathers had gone to fight for their country's sovereignty."

The Moultonborough Quilters put their hearts to work to DO GOOD!

As the war dragged on and Ukrainian soldiers and civilians were being killed, two Moultonborough neighbors decided to wave Ukrainian flags at the traffic lights in Center Harbor, NH, to show support for Ukraine. They bought yellow and blue fabric for twenty flags, set up a sewing workshop at the Moultonborough Library, and asked for volunteers. Neighbors and new friends soon joined!

One volunteer was Colleen, a quilter who shared an amazingly intricate portrait quilt of Volodymyr Zelenskyy that she had made. Colleen also shared a picture of one of these quilts designed by her dear friend Lissa, an artistic young quilter who soon after passed away from ovarian and breast cancer. The picture convinced the flag makers to become quilt makers, inspired by the blue and yellow heart of Lissa's design which so aptly portrayed their love and support of Ukrainian families.

The Moultonborough Quilters are a group of less than a dozen, but some of the connections made are far reaching, learning of the Common Man for Ukraine and its tremendous contributions to the physical and emotional relief of Ukrainian children. At VOICES FROM UKRAINE: Stories of Hope and War performances in six New England towns and cities in August, Common Man for Ukraine will raffle off the quilt stitched with love by the Moultonborough Quilters to help raise funds for their humanitarian efforts.

"Our small idea to try to make a bit of a difference in Ukraine's horrific struggle has grown to what we now hope will make a significant difference in the lives of many Ukrainian families," said Suzanne, proud and moved by what all began by simply waving a flag.

The quilt is 100% cotton, smaller than Twin size, and suitable as a topper on any size bed, a throw or perfect for display!
