The Academy of St. Benedict has served the West Englewood community since 1901 when a small school was built on the site. Since then, the school building has grown and changed to meet the needs of students and families in the neighborhood. We are fiercely committed to providing equitable opportunities, ensuring that every family, regardless of background or circumstance, has access to the resources and support necessary for their child's success.

Today, we at The Academy of St. Benedict the African continue to thrive as a Catholic school that loves our students and leads them to be successful in academics and in life. Our spirit has been a force of stability, spirituality, love and hope in the community. Each day our school welcomes over 200 students and is the only Catholic school in West Englewood.

While we are a thriving school, we lost a significant funding source in 2023 when the Tax Credit Scholarship Program ended. This resulted in a decrease in tuition funding for almost all of our families.

This program had provided ASBA with over $370,000 in funds that we were able to use to provide tuition assistance to families in past school years. Thanks to the generous support from donors, alumni, foundations, corporations, and friends like you, ASBA was not only able to navigate through this time, but also continue to flourish and grow. This fundraising campaign hopes to bridge this gap in funding for the 2025-2026 School Year and provide the necessary support to our families so they can continue to enroll in our tremendous school.
