About This Project

This is our third year organizing Project Holiday Giving in San Miguel de Allende, Mexico. What began as a simple act of kindness has grown into a yearly movement powered by friends, families, and volunteers from around the world.

What is a Casa Hogar
A Casa Hogar is a residential children’s group home. The children live there full time due to unsafe home conditions or the death of their custodial parent or parents. These homes rely heavily on donations and community support to provide care and stability, especially during the holidays.

We continue supporting the children who live full time in the Casa Hogares. This year, we are also extending our reach to a nearby school community where resources are minimal and the need is great.

How You Can Give

While we welcome specific wish list gifts, our primary request is monetary donations. After years of doing this, our experience has taught us where to find the best quality clothing and sneakers at the best prices, which allows us to stretch every donation further without compromising on quality.

If you prefer to shop directly, we have added all toys, electronics, and gift wrapping materials to our Amazon Wish List. You can select items from the list and they will be shipped directly to us to be distributed to the children.

Additional Ways to Support

• If you or your company would like to donate products to the children or to the holiday events, please reach out.
• If you have a connection to a company that may want to contribute, we welcome introductions.
• You can volunteer your time virtually through planning and logistics or locally at our gift wrapping parties or by helping shop for items.

Important dates

• Monetary donations are most helpful if received by November 24th so we can prepare for Black Friday and Cyber Monday deals.
• Monetary donations will continue to be accepted until December 23rd. Every year we have unexpected children arrive at the homes and we never turn a child away.
• Amazon Wish List items must be purchased by December 6 so everything arrives in time. The children at La Palmita Escuela Primaria are dismissed on December 12.

Transparency in how funds are used

We are not a nonprofit. No one is paid and no one receives a salary. Every person involved is a volunteer.
Every donation is used directly to make these holiday gifts and experiences possible for the children.

My husband and I have been gathering friends and family to give during the holidays since 2007. It is part of our purpose to bring joy to others wherever we are. We invite people to join us every year so this blessing can continue to ripple outward.

We also want to acknowledge Phoenix who has supported La Palmita for years. She has always wanted to give more but did not have the resources to reach every child. We invited the school to be part of Project Holiday Giving so that every student receives new items chosen just for them.
