Every town needs a place where people can come together — to laugh, learn, and share stories. For more than a century, The Strand Theatre has been that special place for Kutztown and the surrounding community. Since opening its doors in 1908, The Strand has hosted live performances, movie nights, and local gatherings — becoming a timeless symbol of community spirit and connection.

Today, that spirit is shining once again. The Strand has reopened with limited operations, and the sight of its glowing marquee has brought excitement and hope back to Main Street. Thanks to the generous Pennsylvania LSA grant, the roof and HVAC system have been fully upgraded, and the electrical system has been brought up to code — important milestones toward our full reopening.

But there’s still work to be done. The next phase of renovations will:

Transform both screening rooms into modern, comfortable spaces
Refresh the lobby, basement office, meeting room, and classrooms
Install a new fire sprinkler system for safety
Make the building fully ADA-accessible, including brand-new restrooms
