Caribbean film is a phenomenal expression of the Region's esthetic spirit, reflecting Caribbean life's relentless energy, rhythm, movement, and emotional range.

The Caribbean Film Festival, now in its 16^th rendition, has been a mainstay of Caribbean Heritage Month's annual celebrations in June in Georgia. Due to changing circumstances this year, the Caribbean Film Festival has partnered with the Queen's Alumnae Atlanta Chapter (QAAC), a 501c3, tax-exempt organization supporting the Queen's High School in Jamaica.

The film festival offers an opportunity for filmgoers to learn about Caribbean culture through documentary films of the Caribbean Region and engage in thought-provoking discussions about the Region reflecting Caribbean life and themes. It provides a platform to meet and network with others who share similar interests and backgrounds. Under the guidance of Monica Foderingham, the festival has flourished over the years, as it showcases a varied selection of independent filmmakers from the Region and has sparked profound interest in the topics highlighted, as well as in the filmmakers and their creative process.

Deep Blue (2022) - Antigua and Barbuda. Atlanta Premiere! Deep Blue is an environmental love story between an architect behind a proposed luxury resort and an environmentalist who wants to stop the project. The subject of this film is very proactive, given the circumstances of worldwide climate change. Mitzi and Howard Allen (HAMA Films) are the producers and directors. Dal Puri Diaspora (2012) - Trinidad and Tobago/Canada. Growing up in Trinidad, Richard Fung loved dal puri roti. In this epic culinary quest, he sets out to discover where this spicy flatbread was born. His journey takes him from the central plains of Trinidad to the Bhojpur region of India and finally to the snowy streets of Toronto, Canada, where he now lives. Half: The Story of a Chinese-Jamaican Son (2013); Jamaica/Canada. Caught between two cultures and races, Vincent Lee was born to a Chinese mother and a Jamaican father. His story is not unique in the Caribbean. From www.mschinproductions.com, Jeanette Kong, Director. Run Time: 26 minutes;

The Chiney Shop (2012); Jamaica/Canada. From the 1930s to the early 1970s, ubiquitous Chinese-owned groceries were located on busy street corners from downtown Kingston to remote towns all over the island. Diggers (1986); Panama/US. This documentary film is about the black men who came from the West Indies (primarily Jamaica and Barbados) to work on constructing the Panama Canal from 1881 to 1914. The film features oral history interviews with the last set of living Diggers who tell individual stories about what it was really like to work on this modern marvel. Dire tor: Roman Foster. Boys of Summer (2010): Curacao. The story of how Curacao sent its team to the Little League World Series for seven consecutive years. While the children carry a nation's pride, they're also athletes competing at the highest level and having a great time. Director: Keith Aumont. Run Time: 1 hour 35 minutes
