Sacred Roots Ancestral Healing School

Since our inception in 2016, we have been a healing and liberation hub for BIPOC movement leaders, movement healers, educators, culture workers, and frontline workers. As we reflect on our past offerings and the ongoing needs of the community, we are launching an Ancestral Healing School to support the cultivation of sacred reciprocity between healing practitioners and the lineages of their healing modalities.

The school will build communities for healthy stewardship of Indigenous Healing Arts through ongoing teachings and mentorship from lineage wisdom keepers, as well as peer-to-peer support and accountability groups. This will allow movement healers to continue integrating and weaving intercultural medicine with quality, integrity, and authenticity. We are raising money to build the infrastructure for this very important work to be birthed in the community. Who We Are

We are a Black, Indigenous, Femme, and Women of Color-led organization, fiscally sponsored by Canticle Farm, in Oakland CA. We bring together a collection of over 15 seasoned BIPOC healers, organizers, activists, and culture bearers from across the country to cultivate our collective wellness through cultural healing practices and liberatory learning.

Our Vision

Sacred Roots centers people of color - Black, Indigenous, API, immigrants, queer, and womxn - in our pursuit of shared healing and liberation. Our vision is to support the holistic health and wellness of the intergenerational, multi-racial, multi-gender, multi-sexual, multi-faith movement through cultural healing practices and embodied learning.

Our Values

Cultural Wisdom - We believe in centering traditional cultural wisdom and practices of Black, Indigenous, API, and People of Color in our collective healing and liberation.
Power With - We believe that the wisdom of those most impacted by the systems of oppression must inform the "what" and "how" of social transformation.
Interconnected - We believe in and nurture the sacred presence and connections between all living beings.

Our Work

Since our inception in 2016, we have been offering an embodied learning and healing pedagogy, rooted in Black, Indigenous, API, and People of Color cultural wisdom and practice. In the past year, we worked with and strengthened the capacity of grassroots activists, academic institutions, and non-profit organizations.

Healing Justice Workshops - embodied and experiential healing-based anti-oppression learning circles, rooted in Black, Indigenous, API, and People of Color cultural wisdom and practices and informed by the wisdom of those most impacted. We offer seminars, workshops, and retreats. Our focus includes relearning truthful history, reconnecting with our traditions, and recovering healing tools to transform systems of oppression.
Healing Justice Sanctuary - individual healing sessions in various Black, Indigenous, API, and People of Color ancestral healing modalities. By resourcing individuals in the movement and those most impacted by trauma and oppression with wellness tools, we strengthen our collective capacity, resilience, and effectiveness in our struggle for liberation. Our practitioners are trained in different BIPOC ancestral healing practices and ceremonies, including Traditional Asian Medicine, Curanderismo, Temazcal, Reiki, Pranic Healing, Therapeutic Qigong, Astrology, Numerology, Spiritual Doulaship, Poetry Therapy, Massage Therapy, Sound and Movement Therapy, Restorative Justice Practices, and more.
