A half century ago, I bicycled across the country as a college student. Now, at 70, I'm doing it again, for a cause.

As a Jew, I'm aghast about what Israel is doing to Gaza (and the West Bank) and decided I have I can remain silent no longer. No matter how brutal the October 7 Hamas attack, Israel's response has been 50 times worse, in terms of direct deaths alone, not to mention the aid cut off which borders on genocide. In March of last year, I started a group of Jews called Not In My Name NH to protest this and we partnered with NH Peace Action, along with other groups.

I have also gone on two two-week RAW GAZA trips -- the northern New England Tri-State Tour and my NH-DC tour -- which totaled 15,000 miles, and raised $10,000. In the latter tour, I delivered some 600 signatures to federal law makers on Capitol Hill on the first day of the session.

But the situation has gotten even gotten even more dire. Half the population of GAZA is on the brink of starvation. So this summer I plan to step up my efforts by cycling across the entire nation, straight through the heart of Trump country in my RAW GAZA USA X-Country Tour. It will be a lot tougher than in 1975. My legs will be older, the climate will be hotter, the storms more severe, the traffic heavier and therefore more dangerous, and unfortunately some people will be hostile these days. In addition to cycling 4000 miles over three months, I will be spending time blogging on my RAW GAZA Facebook page with local peace groups in cities and towns all across America to rally folks against this war. But I feel an almost desperate need to do something to help raise awareness, and yes money.

I expect to pay for most of the expenses of this trip, and certainly won't get a penny for my efforts. Any money raised here will go directly to into the bank account of NH Peace Action Education Fund, RAW GAZA's non-profit fiscal agent. NH Peace Action in turn will donate half of that money to the American Friends Service Committee Emergency Gaza Relief. A quarter will go to NH Peace Action and national Peace Action, also non profits, who are educating and agitating against this horrible war. And a quarter will go to Jewish peace groups, like Not In My Name (also under the NH Peace Action's non-profit umbrella) who are standing up as Jews against these atrocities. All these groups have endorsed the ride, as well as Veterans for Peace.

Please, if you can find it in your heart to dig into your pockets, give whatever you can. No donation is too small!
