The 20th Annual Reggie’s Sleepout was a huge success thanks to you!
While our 2025 in-person event has wrapped up, we’re still accepting donations through November 30. Your support makes an immediate difference in the lives of the young people we serve - please consider making a gift or reaching out to learn more about opportunities to get involved with YSS and the Iowa Homeless Youth Center.

Reggie’s Sleepout is a powerful event that raises awareness and support for homeless youth in Iowa. It honors the life of Reggie Kelsey, a teenager who tragically died by suicide after aging out of foster care with no safety net. His heartbreaking story revealed deep gaps in the system meant to protect vulnerable young people. In response, YSS created the Iowa Aftercare Services Network in 2002 to offer critical resources, guidance, and stability to foster care alumni. Since 2005, Reggie’s Sleepout has brought communities together to remember Reggie and fight youth homelessness with compassion and action. This year’s event will take place on November 1st at Drake Stadium. By donating or participating, you help give hope, dignity, and opportunity to youth who need it most.

There will be a contest for the best shelter made among individuals, high school teams, college teams, and business teams! Cardboard will be provided by Homemakers, but participants are encouraged to bring their own as well! Hope to see you there :)
