On May 3rd, Chris Is Lacing Up & Running Every Street in Runnemede - for the Bravest Fighters of All

Meet Chris: teacher, runner, and champion of courage. On May 3rd, Chris will pound the pavements of Runnemede for 24 hours straight - step by step, block by block - to raise funds and awareness for pediatric cancer warriors and the incredible KICKcancER Movement.

This run is personal. Chris is honoring the lives and strength of three of his former students who’ve battled cancer with unimaginable bravery. Every mile he runs is a tribute to them—and to every child fighting for their future.

Let's hear from Chris and Super Shawn themselves.....

My name is Christian Whipple and I am asking for your help to make a difference in the lives of children athletes. I am a 5th grade teacher and running coach in Runnemede, NJ. I want to honor and raise funds for the Luke Silvestre Foundation and the KICKcancER Movement that both help young athletes.

Why the Luke Silvestre Foundation?

Luke Silvestre was a student in my class during the 2019 school year. During the summer of 2019 doctors found melanoma in his ear. While Luke battled cancer he continued to play sports. Unfortunately, at the age of 11, Luke lost his battle with cancer on January 2, 2021.

Emily Peshick was a student in my science class in 2012. Emily was diagnosed with an aggressive form of leukemia in October 2011. In April, she got a bone marrow transplant. Emily was a basketball player and in February of 2013 she lost her battle.

My current student Shawn Copes is 11 years old and just had his 5 year cancer check up and is now a Survivor Warrior! Shawn lights up our classroom each morning with his positive attitude. I call him Super-Shawn and thank him for reminding us that we all have a super power, which is the power to have a positive mindset in life and its challenges.

Why the KICKcancER Movement?

The KICKcancER Movement's mission is to empower pediatric cancer families through movement, holistic healing, and community support, aiming to help children not only survive but thrive through cancer treatment.
