What happens when the village comes together?

Raised By The Village was created because we believe families going through financial hardship deserve more than just a handout — they deserve dignity, choice, and support without judgment.

Through our FREE COMMUNITY STORE in Sumter, SC, children and families are able to shop for the things they actually need at absolutely no cost. That includes food, fresh and frozen groceries, hygiene products, household and cleaning supplies, diapers and baby essentials, feminine-care products, clothing, and other everyday necessities.

There are no forms, no ID requirements, and no judgment. Families are able to choose what works for their household instead of receiving a prepacked bag of items they may not need.

We are a small nonprofit, and community support is what keeps this possible. Donations help us restock shelves, purchase meats and refrigerated foods, keep hygiene and household products available, cover operating expenses, and make sure families coming behind the next family still have something to choose from. Transparency- our shed payment is $183 a month. Totaling $4,741 cash price if we’re able to pay it off in 60 days - $10,129 if we let it go to term or 48% of remaining balance. At the time we are covering payment cost out of pocket until we are able to receive enough donations or grants to help keep the store stocked and cover the behind the scenes costs of running a nonprofit.

Every amount matters. A few dollars may help us buy milk, eggs, bread, toiletries, diapers, cleaning supplies, or snacks for a child. Larger donations allow us to restock entire sections of the store and serve more families.

We want parents to be able to use their limited income toward rent, utilities, transportation, childcare, and other important bills while knowing there is somewhere they can turn for basic necessities.

Take what you need. Leave what you can. Be mindful of the families coming behind you.

Thank you for helping us continue building a village where families can ask for help without feeling ashamed. Sometimes I don’t think people realize how much their support truly means. We couldn’t do this without every person who donates, shares our posts, tells someone about us, or simply helps spread the word.

100% of donations support Raised By The Village and the programs and needs of our FREE COMMUNITY STORE
